Creating Your Portrait – The Process

To help you get the most out of your experience and understand what goes into creating a custom portrait, let me explain the process.

The first step is to establish a vision for your portrait. Producing a fine art portrait takes time and dialogue between client and artist. I want to understand perfectly the image you want portrayed. We will also discuss the appropriate size and price for the portrait.

After initial communications have taken place and I have an idea of your vision for the portrait, we will set up an appointment for a photo shoot. Before the photo shoot, a 50% deposit will be required. I will ask you to bring the appropriate props and a variety of clothing options to the shoot.

Once the photographs are taken I will provide a timeline for the project. As soon as the timeline has been agreed upon, I will begin composing your portrait in PhotoShop. You will receive jpeg files of the composition for approval. Upon your approval of the photo images, I will begin work on the final portrait in oil.
